Who are we?
Hoop de Mars/Les Cerceaux de L’Espoir aka the “Afro~Hoop Movement” is a law 1901 association created, by Christel Lautel. Dedicated to the advancement hoop dance and hoop fitness in the city Marseille and the Bouches-du-Rhône région, two sport disciplines that have become extremely popular in the United States over the past decade or so, and especially à la mode in California.
The importance of play and freedom of expression is becoming increasingly undervalued in this technological age we live in, and hooping gives you all the benefits.
The purpose of Hoop de Mars/Les Cerceaux de L’Espoir is to promote the sport disciplines of hoop dance & hoop fitness by providing a setting where people can learn the many aspects hoop dance & hoop fitness. Providing personal practice hula hoops, so people may begin their hoop journeys (especially the youth); either by donation or by paid hoop making workshops. Executing events that spread awareness of the sport of hooping to the people of Marseille and the Bouches-du-Rhône région; via hoop jams/picnics, free and paid classes or workshops and hooping demonstrations. In turn providing urban youth with tools of self discovery that foster hope, discipline and respect for self, others and community; by sharing the joy found in a simple piece of plastic shaped in the form of a circle the hula hoop.
